10 Days_Tan Phu_Di Linh_Da Lat Plateau

Tan Phu & Di Linh & Da Lat Plateau are some of the best birding sites in Vietnam! Our simple itinerary is designed to search for endemic and near-endemic species in the South Vietnam. Some endemic mammals include Black-shanked Douc Langur, Annam Silver Langur, Golden-cheecked Gibbon and Monkeys.

Day 1: Arrive Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh to Tan Phu.
Arrive at Ho Chi Minh city and travel by car to Tan Phu, 150km to the north. This area is home to both Bar-bellied and Blue-rumped Pitta.

Days 2 & 3: Tan Phu
Two full days at Tan Phu, our target birds are: Bar-bellied and Blue-rumped Pittas, Black-backed Kingfisher, Green-legged Partridge, and the rare near-endemic Orange-breasted Partridge. Others species along the road are: Abbott’s Babbler, and Black-and-red, Banded and Dusky Broadbills, Banded Kingfisher, Orange-breasted Trogon. At night around Tan Phu we will look for the hard to find Spot-bellied Eagle Owl and other species such as Collared Scope Owl, Asian Barred Owlet, and Brown Boobok.
Overnight at Suoi Mo resort.

Days 4: Tan Phu to Di Linh
A morning birding around Tan Phu then a 3 hour drive to Di Linh. Birding along the main road where we can find the beautiful Indochinese Green Magpie, Black-headed Parrotbill, Annam and Red-vented Barbet, other endemics are possible here: Vietnamese Cutia, Dalat Shrike Babbler, Vietnamese Greenfinch.
Overnight at Di Linh.

Days 5: Di Linh to Da Lat.
A morning birding at Dilinh then travel to Da Lat, stopping on the roadside at Datanla Waterfall for the lovely Annam and Langbian Sunbirds and Annam Barbet and others.
Overnight at Dreams Hotel.

Days: 6 & 7 & 8 & 9: Three full days on the Da Lat Plateau.
We will focus to endemic as such as: Collared and Orang-breasted Laughingthrushes and other near endemic as: the rare Indochinese Wren or Short-tailed Scimitar Babbler and White-cheeked Laughingthrush. Other beautiful species such as Grey-bellied Tesia, Blue Pitta, Rusty-naped Pitta, Spotted Forktail, Large Niltava, White-tailed Robin, Lesser Shortwing, Rufous-throated Partridge, Snowy-browed Flycatcher, Blue-winged Minla, Thick-billed and Yellow-vented Flowerpecker are also in the area. With some luck we will find other endemics such as Grey-crowed Crocias, Black-crowed Fulvetta and Vietnamese Cutia. Night birding for another chance a Spot-bellied Eagle Owl and others such as Oriental Scope Owl, Collared Owlet, Large-tailed Nightjar, and Hogson’s Frogmouth.

Days 10:
A morning birding at Da Lat then drive to Lien Khuong airport about 40km from hotel for flight to Ho Chi Minh airport for flight home. Tour conclusion.
